Dose of Endorphines

Today, the second day of Christmas, we went ice swimming, or ice dipping if you wish. It sounds like the craziest thing ever.

We got there almost at sunset, that is at 2 PM.

Would you go down those stairs? We did, several times.
Turns out we were not the only ones, it was actually a really busy day at the center near Lake Näsijärvi where there's a sizey wood-heated sauna and a Place where you actually do it: get into the frozen cold lake in your swim wear AND enjoy the feeling of those "thousand knives" hitting your body. (ref. Titanic, the movie.)

Amazingly, it doesn't immediately kill you, but produces a rush of blood in all of your skin and the couple of altenating heat/cold sessions make you feel like an Angel walking in a cottony substance as you head home. It also makes you hungry as a wolf and zzzzzzzzzzzzz.... oh, so well at night.

Had a great time! Even my 8-year-old nephew went into the lake three times! (yeah, I know, Finns ARE crazy.)

We left some 2 hours later, as the night was already darkening.

Pet Wagon

Christmas! Finally! Even my blog posts from October on tell their story: I had a new job. Only two posts in October and two in November. In December, none. I have been doing so much and been into so much lately - both professionally and personally. So much. But I knew there would be Christmas and rest. And there was.

This year, I came to my mom's and spent most of the time with most of my siblings (since we're all more or less thrown all over the world) and only had Bambi as travel companion on the train to Tampere on the 24th. There's some shots of our pals during the trip. Must say it was a lot quieter than kid wagons ever...

Stripes & Seventies

I have gone completely gaga over the flea markets here in Helsinki, as you already know. But what you might not yet know, like something worse..., is that it is ALL about the 70s in this house now. And I mean PLASTIC, and I mean REAL 1970s vintage stuff. (My mom is horrified!)

But I love it, and realize that doing this, has been my long-lasting dream. Like: When the kids are old enough not to break EVERYthing. (Turns out we are not quite there yet...) But, bet you cannot wait any longer. Pics!
This green plastic ISKU beauty has been saved by someone from the Tax Office in Kouvola, no kidding.

Just something about stripes, it seems, that I like.

Oh, What an October!

I have had a helluvan October, actually. I started a new job, and have been so submerged by all the new stuff, new colleagues, office culture and surroundings, new season, new commute (tram and metro) but most of all, I have just been SO happy! And I mean my-feet-have-barely-touched-the-ground-happy, you know.

I addition, I travelled for 4-5 days to D.C. to arrange some biz there, and organized a NAIL STUDIO at Luis's Camp School fundraiser at my return. I gave my mom a 30 minute nail specialist training and off we went. We did nails for 4 hours non-stop. Our customers were mostly teens i.e. a thankful bunch of first-timers, mainly. Great great FUN!

As a side-project I started an Instagram account on the ashtonishingly extreme ugliness of the month of October in this side of the town I now work. Project name: "ugliest work commute ever" kind of. But really, so ugly, it´s already got some beauty to it. Enjoy!

In addition to the aforesaid, snow landed already on this side of the planet, yahoo (not!) AND I may have also gone "slightly" overboard with my flea hobby... but shall go into depths with that a little later...
