Baby Pinky

Luis and I surprised Maia the other day. It was Luis's idea and we did some careful planning first. The execution of the plan went prefectly. We had everything ready as she entered the room. Then we shouted: "SURPRISE!"

We named him Pinky for his one pink ear. He's still a baby but at the store they said he'll grow fast and be quite big as guinea pigs go... Let's wait and see. Maia is in heaven. It's her dream come true.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My mother arrived to our house again yesterday. She flew from the old continent to celebrate Thanksgiving with us, and actually she's staying until mid-December. She told the plane was full of happy people returning home from Europe to their families in the U.S.

This year we have so many things to be thankful about. The most important of them is that my sissy got a new job in Brussels and is starting a new life in the EU capital as we speak. We're so proud of her achievement!

Our turkey was prepared by my friend Viviana. Thank you Vivi, it was DELICIOUS!

End Of Season Sunday

Today, we had Luis's soccer team's end of season dads vs. sons game. The weather was chilly but sunny, and I must admit it is a great relief for me to have a break from the weekly practises and Saturday early morning games... Happy about today and see you in March 2013. Pphiuufff.

Our team, the Wanderers, is awesome though, they WON ALL their games this season!

From Prada To Nada

I've said it before, sometimes life treats you good sometimes it takes it all away from you.

I had it all Chanel for sometime. Now its..well, Maybelline again. And you know what, I don't really mind. I'm happy as long as I have my sweeties with me, I'm healthy and have at least some foundation to add on my face every morning. Who cares if it's a bit yellowish..

I wish you all a relaxing Friday evening and promise all those dying for my latest news... that I'll give some very soon. But not yet.

Rotten Pumpkins

Hey, don't need bumper stickers or lawn posts or even a Facebook profile. If you have an opinion, you may just as well write it on a rotten pumpkin if you'd wish :))) Right?

...It's been two weeks since Halloween and I guess I should get my act together and throw away what is left of our scary pumpkins. They are starting to l look reeeally scary...

One of my neighbor's rotten pumpkin...

BEFORE and ...AFTER ->
It wasn't me! It was the damn squirrels!!!

Alley Walks

"People's lives, in Jubilee as elsewhere, were dull, simple, amazing, and unfathomable
- deep caves paved with kitchen linoleum."
(Alice Munro, Lives of Girls and Women)
This passage from one of my favourite novels by one of my favourite author's came to my mind, as I was walking through the alleys of my neighborhood one morning.
I think these photos illustrate the profound need of Americans for individuality, private space and shameless self-expression. I love these hoods and my neighbors dearly. And I feel that after almost two years here, I still don't totally get them. Probably never will.

This Seat Is Taken

He won!!! It was wonderful to wake up this morning to this European style socialism lurking all over the nation's capital, HAHAA!

Go Obama! You've got only four short years to make the changes this great country badly needs.
Go America! You made a great choise yesterday! May God bless you.
