I'll share a couple of GOP campaign ads just coz it's Saturday and all. You'll notice how important a factor religion is over here, together with the candidate's good looks and white teeth. You'll probably also notice - like the Washington Post pointed out in its article "Sparks are flying in Republican presidential candidates' campaign ads" - that indeed sparks (kipinät) are the cliché all these three chose to convey the image of "jobs" and "hard work".
It doesn't take much imagination to see the blatant sexual imagery behind the "fountains of sparks" (just like it isn't in those huge Champagne bottle shakes by the Formula 1 winners). However, the communications expert interviewed by the Post doesn't say anything about this. Instead, he says how this imagery is "appealing to men." Ooops, I just hit another taboo right in the eye there!! (And we have not even talked about abortion yet, unlike in the presidential race in Finland.)
"I'm Mitt Romney and I approved this message."
"I'm Rick Perry and I approved this message."
"I'm Newt Gingrich and I approved this message."
